Death
Endings, transformation and making room for new.
Don't be frightened, lovely one. The Death card rarely means anything literal. It shows a rider on a white horse and a sun rising in the distance. This card is about transformation: one chapter closing so another can begin.
Upright meaning
Upright, Death speaks of endings, release and renewal. Something has run its course, perhaps a habit, a role or an old version of yourself. Letting go can feel tender, but it makes space for growth. Like autumn leaves, release is part of the natural cycle.
Reversed meaning
Reversed, Death can point to resisting change or holding on to what's already over. Perhaps fear is keeping you in a familiar but stale place. Ask gently what you're clinging to, and what might bloom if you released it.
Guidance
- Love: Let go of old patterns that no longer serve your relationships. Something more honest can grow in their place.
- Career: A role, project or way of working may be ending. Prepare for the next chapter with curiosity.
- Self: Clear out one thing, physical or emotional, that belongs to an old version of you.
