The Hierophant
Tradition, learning, mentors and shared values.
The Hierophant sits between two pillars, offering blessings and teachings to those who gather before him. He is the keeper of tradition and the wise teacher. My dear, this card asks you to consider which beliefs truly serve you, and where a mentor might light the way.
Upright meaning
Upright, The Hierophant speaks of learning, community and time-honoured wisdom. Structured study, a trusted guide or a shared practice can support you now. There is comfort in belonging, and value in learning the rules well before deciding which ones to bend.
Reversed meaning
Reversed, The Hierophant can suggest questioning convention or feeling boxed in by expectations. That's allowed. Explore what feels true for you, respectfully and thoughtfully. Your own values can become your guide when old rules no longer fit.
Guidance
- Love: Shared values make strong foundations. Talk about what matters most to each of you, and honour the traditions you choose.
- Career: Seek out a mentor, course or professional community. Learning from those ahead of you can save you time and doubt.
- Self: Write down three values you live by. Notice which ones you inherited and which ones you chose.
Madame Devine's message
"Learn the rules well enough to know which ones still serve you."
This is the line you'll hear when The Hierophant turns up in the free card draw on our homepage. Carry it with you today and notice where it fits.
A gentle question
Which beliefs am I keeping because they're true for me, and which out of habit?
